I love creative renewable energy.

I have no problem with wind turbines. So what if they make noise and could kill some unlucky birds? Any power generation with moving parts is going to do one or both of those. It's not like you can make a silent, non-spinning wind power plant, right?

Leave it to an artist to come up with one.

Each of those giant hairs is a generator. They're made of flexible stacks of material that, when put under pressure, generate electricity. Wind bends them, pressing the layers like a bent vertebrae.

It's a brilliant idea. Is it plausible, though? I hope so. We'll see whether a decade or so of wealthy Arab architectural madness can't make it happen.
